Rwanda

Over a 1,000,000 people were killed in the 1994 genocide in just 100 days.  This left the highest rate of orphans, widows and widowers, raped women (over 500,000 women in just 100 days),destroyed infrastructure, broken society and humanity, highest rates of moral degradation, highest rates of casualties, and highest infection of HIV/AIDS in the society.

Rwanda has gone through a lot of pain and nothing can minister to the healing of these wonderful people apart from the true word of God. It is only God’s power that can give hope and restore the character of God among these broken and wounded souls due to the above mentioned disasters which our nation has faced. We are calling upon the church of Christ to join hands with us to re-build, restore, rehabilitate, and give a new shape to Rwanda. It is only the power of Christ’s gospel that will give a true shape of spirituality and high moral value to the Rwandan community.

Since 1994 God told me, Gacura Kanisious, that I was to become a pastor and He gave me a vision but I didn’t know where and when. Therefore I had to wait for God’s timing and destination. In 2002 I felt the call of God to go into full time ministry; I then joined Yesu Akwagala Bible College. During my four years there I felt God’s call to go to Rwanda to establish a ministry there. I had struggled with this calling to go to Rwanda because of the history and because my parents had left Rwanda in 1958 due to tribalism. God told me to go to Rwanda, the land of which I never wanted to go. I went and shared it with my pastors, Pastor Ron DeVore and Pastor Steve Mayanja who agreed to stand with me. For sure the Lord has been good to us, for it was a humble beginning but we have had a great increase.

We begun the church in my living room, then later WOMF bought the needed church property and we were able to set up our sanctuary which can accommodate four hundred people. The church is called Nyabugingo Worship Centre which means “life giving” worship centre, it is established in an area which is the most Islamic in the whole nation of Rwanda. Our vision is to plant more churches, have monthly crusades and teach the new converts the teachings of faith and ground them in the truth of God’s Word, hold leadership conferences and youth conferences, organize revival prayer meetings, set up a hospital and a school, and set up income generating projects in order to finance the ministry. Also to reach out to people with disabilities, orphans, widows, street children and any other needy people with the Word of God. We will go and share with them the love of Christ and His Word, which can cause healing and revive their wounded hearts. They need someone to tell them how precious and valuable they are before the sight of our Father in Heaven and how instrumental they are in establishing God’s Kingdom.

“I can do all things in Him that strengthens me.” Philipians 4:13 May you join hands with us to be apart of what the Lord is doing in our nation of Rwanda? Rwanda is hungry for God as never before, if we join hands we can be a blessing to someone and bring a smile and restore hope to someone who is hopeless.
