Kenya

It was in the year 1998 when I, Pastor Joel Ombima, first met Pastor Steve Mayanja in Maasai Mara Kenya. He invited me to attend a conference in September that same year at Seguku Worship Centre, Kampala, Uganda. It was at that conference that Pastor Steve introduced me to Papa Ron and Mama Shirley; they hosted me in their container house for 10 days as I attended the conference. Their devotion and commitment to God’s work moved me and I felt God’s conviction to work with them.  I was seriously touched by the theme of the conference “SEND THE FIRE,” which took me to Lolgorian after Kampala and lit the fire of the gospel in the Maasai tribe. For the last 10 years we have worked with WOMF, through the years the Lord has enabled us to plant five churches including:

1. Lolgorian Christian Worship Centre
2. Oldonyo Orok Christian Worship Centre
3. Siteti Christian Worship Centre
4. Angata Christian Worship Centre
5. Kerinkani Christian Worship Centre

All these churches are operating without church land and buildings. Please pray with us that the Lord will open doors for land and church buildings funds. WOMF has actively participated all these years by providing mobile clinic, relief for the hurting (especially during last year’s post-election violence), and providing funds to help purchase our five acres of school land.

Through active involvement of our mission operations in Kenya, we saw the need of starting a Christian based mission school. This will help provide better education and build a better faith foundation to believers and non-believers, children in Maasai and other communities in Kenya.  We prayed and fasted for God’s direction and in 2002 we started our school. We started as a nursery/pre-primary school headed by my wife Judy. Since then our school has added one class each year, our school has now reached nursery to primary standard six.

Through God’s grace and providence WOMF and friends were able to help us purchase a five acre piece of land for our school. The school site layout plan has been approved by the government and is ready for construction when the Lord provides. In this plan we believe to put up ten classrooms, an administration block, a community clinic, a dining hall, 2 dormitories (one for boys and one for girls) and a chapel. This will help protect our children from wild animal attacks due to many of them having to walk long distances to attend school. This will also help secure our Maasai girls from the dangers of traditional practices which may bar them from learning; such as female circumcision and forceful early marriages. We have gathered a few building materials with the little funds available in  readiness for building our school. Please pray with us that God will provide funds for this project.

We invite you to visit our mission in Kenya so that you can acquaint  yourself with us.  May God keep you and bless you in deed for your participation in praying with us.

Yours in His service,
