Mudslides in Uganda have destroyed 3 villages, killed 80 people, 300 missing persons, and over 300,00 people are now homeless...
Dear Mission Partners,
Shirley and myself, together with Pastors Steve and Cissy Mayanja, Pastors Stephen and Sarah Kaweesa, and Pastors Scott and Brenda Volz, want to bring you, our faithful supporters, into the inner sanctum of our hearts. We write to you on behalf of the many victims of the terrible mudslides which killed 80 plus persons, totally wiped out three villages, left us with more than 300 persons missing and 300,000 persons homeless, we want to share with you the hurt we all feel. In the 23 years we have lived here in Uganda we have never seen such natural devastation.
The Associated press made this comment; One survivor said he was at a church service when the rains began. "All of a sudden the church collapsed. Mud covered the whole place. Five people seated next to me died. I only survived because my head was above the mud,"James Kasawi, 20, told The Associated Press from a hospital in Bududa, where he was recovering from a broken leg and arm.
The reports are horrendous as we see the awful devastation caused by the slides and we as a mission do not feel we can ignore the incredible suffering amongst the survivors and especially the many children left without parents and no hope for the future. In the spirit of our Lord Jesus, we ask you to join with us as we begin the process of bringing aid to the host of sufferers. For $10,000.00 we can make a difference! We will buy and deliver the necessary foods, clothing, Bibles, soap, salt, buckets for water and other misc items as needed. Are you ready to join our rescue team?
I realize we cannot all run over to Uganda and jump into the fray. But we can all send funds so our great rescue team can head for the mountains where this tragedy has occurred and do something in Jesus Name to alleviate the suffering and trauma. Please do decide now and arm us with needed funds with which to make a difference to the survivors of this horrendous tragedy.
