Hi everyone!
Hope
that you are well! The ministry is going great here in the prisons of
Uganda. Hundreds of prisoners have given thier lives to Christ this
month! On one day recently our team set out very early in the morning
to visit a remote prison named Kabasanda before the prisoners were sent
out to work for the day. We met them all, 108 of them, and about 75
stood up to get saved during our altar call! Praise God!
We then proceeded to Kanoni prison where
another 40 prisoners wanted to be saved! We are always looking for ways
to make our ministry more effective, and I think coordinating with some
of the wardens to try to reach the prisons early in the morning is
going to allow us to reach many more prisoners. Earlier this week we
recieved an emergency call from Kasangati prison that many of the
prisoners were very sick and the local clinic could not give them
medicine (the gov't clinic is supposed to treat prisoners, but they
often have no medicine at all) so we took our nurse and team where we
met all 280 prisoners inside the prison, and 50 gave thier lives to
Christ! God is good! Our trip to Mubende district was also great this
month, we saw many people saved and GOD MOVED WITH A MIGHTY HAND AS WE
PREACHED ABOUT THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST! Dozens and dozens of
prisoners were filled with the Holy Spirit! At Butitti Prison one of
the guards was weeping with her hands raised up as she was baptized in
the Holy Spirit. One of the prisoners was so excited that he knocked
some of the others down as he jumped up and down worshipping God in
tongues. We also were able to bring along a large amount of donated
clothes to help the prisoners, who were very happy! Some of the wardens
gave us special gifts of Matoki (a plantain banana that is a staple of
the diet here) to take home with us. Our team of Pastor's Ernest and
Moses, and Nurse's Ruth and Jessica are doing fine work.
We will finally (!) be moving into our
rental home tomorrow. Hopefully the water will be connected by then. It
has been tough to find a good house, and everything is more expensive
in Uganda this year, but God helped us! It is big enought to help house
our fellow ministers and visitors, Larry and Sally Jelvik, when they
arrive in August. Would you like to come and visit us too?
Thanks so much for your support and
prayers! We sure appreciate all that you have done to help us and the
ministry. Please consider us to be your representatives here in the
prisons of Uganda, and know that we would not be able to do this great
work without your help, as God has moved on your heart to help! Thanks
Again!
I want
to now tell you about a need in the ministry. I have explained to most
of you when speaking that we have two districts of prison ministry. One
in the Masaka area, and one in Seguku area, where my wife and I live.
Becky and I oversee both districts and we have one leadership team,
although we are seperated by some distance from the Masaka team. For
some time they have been having vehicle problems, with constant
breakdowns forcing the team to stop work frequently. Actually, it has
seemed that they have been off work most of the time with these
transportation problems. The vehicle that they have been using is quite
old, having been used by our orphan ministry here for many years, then
given to the prison ministry as a sort of hand me down. Alot of work
has been done on the vehicle, but everyone agrees that the team really
needs a newer vehicle. We would like to buy a Toyota 4WD van for the
Masaka team, like the one we are using in Seguku. It is a versatile
vehicle, inexpensive to repair, and we have tested them in our ministry
here in Uganda. The Masaka prison ministry has a great team that really
wants to get out to help the people in the prisons, but they need help.
I am writing in the hopes that there are some people who will read this
whom God can use to help in this situation. It is a great need, and an
important ministry that God is using. The prisoners that the Masaka
team visits are very needy, open to God, and I know that God wants that
ministry to flourish! In order to get the team a newer, suitable
vehicle from Japan, we need around $15-20,000 dollars. If you want to
help, please email me to let me know! Or, you can send your donations
toward the vehicle for Masaka prisons to our office: WOMF, PO Box
23267, Federal Way, Wa, 98093. Please make the check payable to WOMF,
but include a note or write on the memo line "for the Masaka Prison
Vehicle"!
Please continue to pray for us,
With love, in Christ,
Pastor's Mike and Becky Vilumsons
